Responsibilities
rnSupervisors are uniquely positioned through direct daily employee contact to respond to employee needs, problems, and satisfaction.
rnSupervisors are the direct link between management and the work force and can be most effective in developing job training, safety attitudes, safe working methods and identifying unsafe acts and conditions.
rnSupervisors should tend to visualize problems and opportunities in terms of their particular areas of concentration.
rnTasks
rn• Carry out policies passed down a hierarchy from the level above.
rn• Plan short-range action-steps to carry out goals set by the level above.
rn• Organize the work group.
rn• Assign jobs to subordinates.
rn• Delegate projects to subordinates.
rn• Direct tasks, jobs and projects.
rn• Train subordinates.
rn• Enforce rules.
rn• Lead and motivate subordinates.
rn• Develop group cohesiveness.
rn• Solve routine daily problems.
rn• Control or evaluate performance of subordinates and the department - performance appraisals.
rn• Discipline subordinates.
