selecting, developing, cataloguing and classifying library resources
rnanswering readers' enquiries
rnusing library systems and specialist computer applications
rnmanagement of staff, including recruitment, training and/or supervisiory duties
rnliaising with departmental academic staff, external organisations and suppliers
rnensuring that library services meet the needs of particular groups of users (eg staff, postgraduate students, disabled students)
rnmanaging budgets and resources
rnsupporting independent research and learning
rndeveloping IT facilities
rnassisting readers to use computer equipment, conduct literature searches etc
rnpromoting the library's resources to users
