General Purpose

rnAccurately process sales and payments for goods/services and provide receipts to customers.

rnMain Job Tasks and Responsibilities
rn
rn greet and acknowledge each customer
rn assist customers where possible
rn provide answers to product and payment-related queries
rn resolve customer complaints
rn refer customers to the right person to answer queries and deal with any problems
rn accurately process sales using cash registers, scanners or equipment
rn provided to obtain total purchase amount
rn accept cash, checks and bankcards for payment
rn process payments according to company procedure
rn provide change for cash payments
rn issue receipts for payments received
rn accurately calculate discounts and special offers
rn stay up to date on all promotions and special offers
rn issue refunds and credits
rn process returns and exchanges
rn redeem food stamps and coupons
rn ensure sufficient change is available
rn balance sales and receipts according to company procedure
rn maintain accurate records of transactions
rn bag, box and wrap merchandise
rn may be required to assist in other areas such as shelf stocking, product display, pricing and clean-up
rn maintain a neat, tidy and orderly work area

rnEducation and Experience
rn
rn high school diploma preferable
rn basic mathematical knowledge
rn some experience dealing with money preferable
rn ability to operate relevant electronic equipment -can be trained on the job
