rnJob Duties/Responsibilities
rn
rn undertaking digital mapping;
rn making use of geographical information systems (GIS) to analyses and interpret site features;
rn utilizing data from a range of sources, such as aerial photography, satellite surveys and laser beam measuring systems;
rn using computer-aided design (CAD) and other IT software to interpret data and present information;
rn keeping up to date with new and emerging technology;
rn producing detailed information (subsequently analyses by planners, builders and cartographers);
rn using a range of equipment to produce surveys, including GPS and conventional methods;
rn discussing specific project requirements with clients;
rn measuring the ground as required by the client, including aspects such as small and large-scale distances, angles and elevations;
rn analyzing information thoroughly before it is handed over to other professionals;
rn thinking creatively to resolve practical planning and development problems;
rn interpreting data using maps, charts and plans;
rn providing advice to a range of clients.
