Senior Accountant - Lagos Mainland

Responsibilities
rn
rnVerify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
rnProduce error-free accounting reports and present their results
rnAnalyze financial information and summarize financial status
rnSpot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
rnProvide technical support and advice on Management accountant
rnReview and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
rnManage accounting assistants and bookkeepers
rnParticipate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
rnProvide input into department’s goal setting process
rnPrepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
rnAssist with tax audits and tax returns
rnDirect internal and external audits to ensure compliance
rnPlan, assign and review staff’s work
rnSupport month-end and year-end close process
rnDevelop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
rnEnsure compliance with GAAP principles
rnLiaise with our Financial manager and Accounting manager to improve financial procedures
rnRequirements
rn
rnProven experience as a Financial controller, Chief or Senior accountant
rnThorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
rnIn-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
rnAwareness of business trends
rnFamiliarity with financial accounting statements
rnExperience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
rnHands-on experience with accounting software packages, like FreshBooks and QuickBooks
rnAdvanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
rnAccuracy and attention to detail
rnAptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
rnBS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
rnRelevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred
